The cleanest water in New Zealand can be found at Monkey Creek, where the water is 99.9% pure!
The water was so good, we wished we had gallon containers to fill up!
The Chasm is found amidst a thick temperate rain forest on the western coast of New Zealand. We took a walk through the forest on the way to Milford Sound.
Milford Sound fun facts:
-The area averages 7m (25ft) of rain per year! That's right folks, they can't even measure it in inches, it rains so much!
-The drive in is extremely treacherous, and the coach drivers must take special courses to be certified for the drive. There are 1.2 accidents per day that occur along the drive. This is very dangerous as the area is so remote that neither satellite nor cell phones work.
-Milford Sound should actually be called Milford Fjord.
Students, do you know the difference between these landforms, fjord and sound? A sound is an opening to the sea that is created by a river. A fjord is an opening to the sea that was created by glacial movement.
